Robotics Engineer (Senior)

Inbolt is hiring!

About

Inbolt is a robotics software company building real-time industrial robot guidance powered by 3D vision and AI. Our mission is to give robots human-like perception and decision-making on the factory floor. Our flagship product combines a 3D camera mounted on a robotic arm with our vision AI software, Inbolt Studio. Our solution is deployed across Europe, the US, and Asia with customers such as Stellantis, General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Airbus, and more.

With €20M raised, our headquarters are in Paris, and we are expanding with teams and offices in the US and Japan to support our global deployments.

Job Description

Title: Robotics Engineer (Senior)

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Paris, in our office at 12 rue Vivienne, 75002 Paris. You will work closely with teams in Paris, the US, and Japan, and your work will directly impact deployments in factories worldwide.

Role Overview

Your mission is to own the integration of complex robotics features into Inbolt Studio, at 100% industrial-grade quality, from architecture to production on the factory floor.

As Senior Robotics Engineer, you are the technical reference for robot control and robot programming in our product. Our roadmap covers static and dynamic robot control whatever the brand. You will architect and build these capabilities, integrate them end to end into Inbolt Studio, and make sure they run reliably on real robots in demanding production environments.

You will work at the intersection of robotics, 3D perception, and software engineering, in a small fast growing team where your contribution is visible and your decisions shape the product. This is not an R&D position: your work has a daily impact on what runs in production at Inbolt customers.

Want to take your robotics career to the next level by building the future of robot vision guidance in the real world? This role is for you.

Responsibilities

Feature ownership and architecture

  • Own the design and integration of complex robotics features into Inbolt Studio, from architecture to production release

  • Deliver the roadmap on static and dynamic robot control

  • Make the key technical decisions on motion planning, robot control, and real-time constraints, and defend them with data

  • Push the limits of the current codebase and propose better architectures when needed

Industrial-grade quality

  • Guarantee industrial-grade quality: every feature is tested, validated on real robots, robust to edge cases, and safe to run in a factory

  • Set the standards for code quality, testing, and review in the robotics team, and keep the PR process efficient

  • Own the quality of your deliverables: code, engineering reports, and validation results

  • Estimate lead times fairly for Epics, deliver on schedule, and flag early when a plan is drifting

From lab idea to production

  • Turn prototypes into production features, validated in real factory conditions at customer sites

  • Integrate and validate Inbolt's solution across industrial robot brands and their programming environments

  • Keep a solid view of the state of the art in robotics, and bring what is relevant into the product

Technical leadership and collaboration

  • Act as the technical reference for the application engineering (RAE) and sales teams on complex customer cases, feasibility, and escalations

  • Review designs and code, mentor engineers, and take part in interviews for new hires

  • Work closely with the Lead Robotics engineer, other engineering teams, and deployment teams in Paris, the US, and Japan

Preferred Experience

Inbolt values end-to-end ownership, high rigor, and a hands-on curiosity. We move fast while staying precise, with a proactive, autonomous, results-driven mindset and strong collaboration with engineering teams.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of professional experience in robotics, in a startup or a large company, with a track record of owning complex features end to end

  • Strong expertise in robotics motion planning: trajectory generation, path planning, collision avoidance, and motion optimization for industrial robot arms

  • Strong expertise in real-time robot control, both static and dynamic (sensor-driven): closed-loop control, low-latency sensor-to-motion pipelines, and deterministic, performance-critical code running on real robots

  • Excellence in software development: strong Python and/or C++, solid engineering practices (testing, code review, version control, CI/CD)

  • Proven record of shipping complex robotics features to production at industrial-grade quality: reliability, test strategy, and validation on real robots

  • Ability to design abstractions that work across robot brands and programming languages

  • Solid foundations in robotics: kinematics, frames and transformations, and integration with industrial or collaborative robot arms

  • Technical leadership: you make architecture decisions, raise the bar in code reviews, and mentor other engineers

  • Appetite for fast development and visible impact: you iterate quickly, ship often, and take ownership of the result

  • Clear communicator, able to explain technical topics to engineers, sales, and customers

  • Fluent in English; French is a big plus given daily interactions with the Paris team

Additional Plus

  • A PhD in robotics or a related field is appreciated, as long as your focus is on shipping: this role is about production impact, not research

  • Experience with 3D vision, point clouds, computer vision, or machine learning applied to perception

  • Experience with industrial robot brands (Universal Robots, ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa, Comau) and their programming languages

  • Experience with ROS or other robotics frameworks

  • Experience deploying or supporting systems on customer sites in industrial environments

  • Experience as a tech lead or team lead of a robotics team

Recruitment Process

  • 1. HR Interview (20 min): first conversation with Inès, Talent Partner, to get to know you, go over your background and motivations, and answer your questions about the role and the company.

  • 2. Team Interview (45 min): meeting with Jean, Head of Engineering, to dive deeper into your experience and discuss how the team works and what the role involves

  • 3. Technical Assessment (60 min): live technical interview with two members of the engineering team.

  • 4. Founder Interview (45 min): conversation with one of our co-founders about the company’s vision, our values, and your ambitions.

  • 5. References: Up to 2 calls with former colleagues or managers.

Additional Information

  • Contract Type: Full-Time
  • Location: Paris
  • Experience: > 4 years
  • Possible partial remote
